General and Rate Information.
We have reserved a limited number of rooms at the above two hotels. Both hotels' cut-off date for holding the rooms
for our group is August 15. After such date rooms may only be booked
on an availability basis. Therefore,
given the limited number of the reserved rooms, we suggest you secure your room
at your earliest convenience because the
rooms may get sold out even before such a deadline. Group Rate
for Deluxe Single or Double and/or Deluxe King at Hotel Angeleno is
$139.00+14.65% tax. Rate for single or
double occupancy at the Guesthouse is a flat rate of $148.00, tax included. You
will need a credit card to hold your room at both hotels.
A Note on the
Hotels: The
UCLA Guesthouse is located on campus and Hotel Angeleno is just a very short
distance (1.5 miles only) from our conference location. Free transportation
between Hotel Angeleno and conference center will be provided for conference
attendees. Given the two hotels have different "personalities" and
accommodations we suggest you check their websites or call them before booking
your room(s). Campus parking is available for $10 daily. As we get closer to
the meeting additional information about the conference and the city, including
campus parking, will be provided.

(Please note for technical
reasons, we have reserved our rooms under the name of our sister Academy- the

FYI and does not make any difference in booking your room.)

Objectives and Scope. Since its first conference in 1989, The Academy of Entrepreneurial Finance, AEF, continues to offer a dedicated forum for exchange of research ideas related to the ever-growing field of entrepreneurial and small business finance. Given the central role of the small and medium enterprise, SME, in a free economy, the objective of the conference is to encourage research and inquiry in the very promising discipline. Although the focus of the annual event is on the financial, economic, behavioral, and accounting aspects of the small firm, papers in closely-related areas will also be considered for presentation. Naturally, research on applied business, finance, and economics is also encouraged. AEF's key areas of interest include:
- Corporate Finance Issues relevant to Small/Entrepreneurial Firms;
- Behavioral Finance and Economics- related to all stages of Risk-taking, Startup, and Growth;
- Business Valuation- and Evaluation;
- Initial Public Offerings;
- The Market for Formal and Informal Venture Capital;
- Financial Institutions and Small Business Financing;
- Innovations in Capital Markets for small and medium enterprises- SMEs;
- Economics and Accounting of Small Business;
- Models for Predicting Small Firm Success and/or Failure; and
- Other related issues- including Globalization and Technological factors affecting Capital Access and Startup Process.
Journal Publication and Conference Proceedings. A few carefully selected and further reviewed papers presented at the conference will be published in AEF's official Journal- The Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance- JEF; and abstracts of papers selected for presentation will be published in the Conference Proceedings.
Submission of Papers for Presentation.
Please prepare: 1) a copy of your completed paper (or a detailed abstract) in PDF format where the cover page of your paper contains only the title (for anonymous review), and 2) a cover letter containing your affiliation and contact information. Notifications of results will be emailed to all respondents by May 31st.
